Nicu and Maria Andreescu raised Bianca Vanessa Andreescu in Mississauga, Ontario.

Her parents moved to Canada from Romania in 1994 after her father accepted a job there. Andreescu’s father is a mechanical engineer at an automotive company, and her mother previously worked at a Romanian bank.

Bianca’s family returned to Romania when she was six years old so that her mother could start a business there. They closed the business after two and a half years and returned to Canada. Her mother now works as the chief compliance officer for a financial services firm.

Bianca became the first Canadian woman to win the Canadian Open in singles since Faye Urban in 1969 on August 11, 2019. She was awarded $3.85 million for winning the US Open. 

In addition, Bianca received $521,530 for winning the Rogers Cup and $1.35 million for winning the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, in March.

She finished runner-up in both the singles and doubles events at the higher-level $50K Challenger de Saguenay in October, once again partnering with Robillard-Millette.

Due to a knee injury, Andreescu missed the first few months of the 2020 season, including the Australian Open. She was unable to defend her title at the Indian Wells Open because the tournament, as well as the rest of the season, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Again, because of her injury, Andreescu missed many major tournaments in the first three months of 2022, including the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Miami Open.

In April, she made her comeback as a wildcard at Stuttgart. However, she was defeated in the round of 16 by Aryna Sabalenka.
