The snowboarding prodigy was born on June 7, 1994, and is the youngest member of his family. He grew up in Warrandyte, Victoria, and enjoys golfing and skateboarding.

His first snowboard, a $10 showcase board from Vancouver, was given to him, Phil James. Although set up as a screen, an 80-centimeter board was not intended for use. His father could not find another board small enough for him, so he purchased it. 

He inherited his humble demeanor as a trait from his mother, Celia. James chased his older brothers and sister around the mountain as a child. James revealed that all of his siblings enjoy winter sports.

James began skiing at Mount Buller on the board that his father bought at a sports store in Whistler at the age of three.

Scotty James Career 

When teammate Nate Johnstone had an ankle injury and was ruled out of the Games, James traveled to Stoneham, Canada, to compete in the World Cup to finish in the top 19, allowing him to replace Johnstone.

He finished 15th, his best finish to date, and qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. James was Australia’s youngest Olympian in 50 years and the Games’ youngest male contender at the age of 15

As a 16-year-old, James made his international debut at the 2010 Europa Cup in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. Throughout his first two World Cup seasons, which ended on July 1, 2012, he established himself as an up-and-coming halfpipe star, continually improving results.

In 2009–10, he finished 23rd at the FIS Snowboard World Cup in Kreischberg, Austria.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, James finished third behind gold medallist Shaun White of the United States and silver medalist Ayumu Hirano of Japan in the men’s halfpipe.
