Nathan Wei Chen is a figure skater from the United States. He is a three-time World champion, a 2018 Olympic team bronze medalist, a 2017 Four Continents champion, a three-time Grand Prix Final champion, and a six-time American national champion.
Nathan Wei Chen was born on May 5, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also began figure skating at the age of three with a pair of his sister’s white figure skaters and competed in his first competition at the age of four.
Chen, in addition to figure skating, studied ballet at the Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City and participated in gymnastics for seven years at the state and regional levels.
Chen is the first skater to land all five quadruple jumps in competition. The jumps include toe loop, Salchow, loop, flip, and Lutz. In 2018, he also completed eight quadruple leaps in a single competition.

Nathan Chen Career as Junior
Nathan Chen began skating when he was three years old, using his sister’s white skate shoes.
In 2003, he competed in his first figure skating competition. He qualified for the US Junior Nationals at the juvenile and intermediate levels from 2007 to 2009. At the 2007 and 2008 Junior Nationals, he finished 10th and 3rd in the junior divisions, respectively. He earned the intermediate men’s silver medal at the 2009 Junior Nationals.
