Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and World Cup alpine skier. She is the current three-time World Cup overall winner, six-time World Cup discipline champion, and four-time World Cup slalom champion in that event. Shiffrin is the youngest slalom victor in Olympic alpine skiing history, having won at the tender age of 18 years and 345 days.

Bio
She is the daughter of Jeff and Eileen Shiffrin, and she grew up alongside her older brother.
Her parents are former ski racers who hail from the Northeastern United States. Shiffrin’s father, Jeff, grew raised in New Jersey but spent his weekend skiing in Vermont with his family; he competed for Dartmouth College in New Hampshire as an undergraduate.
Eileen, her mother, was a track and field athlete in high school in the Berkshires in northwest Massachusetts. Taylor, her brother, was a track athlete at the University of Denver.
Mikaela’s family relocated to rural New Hampshire near Lyme when she was eight years old, where her father, an anesthesiologist, worked at Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center. He got a new job in Denver after five years, but her elder brother Taylor, who was in high school at Burke Mountain Academy in northeastern Vermont, stayed. Shiffrin attended Burke Middle School as well.

Mikael Shiffrin Career
As soon as she was old enough to compete in FIS-sanctioned events, Shiffrin began climbing the alpine racing rankings. She won a Nor-Am Cup super-combined event in December 2010 in Panorama, British Columbia, while still meeting the minimum age restriction of 15 years. It was only her sixth FIS-level race.
Shiffrin then went on to finish second in a super-G, third in a GS, and first in slalom in her following three Nor-Am events. She won a pair of Nor-Am slalom competitions at Sunday River, Maine, a few weeks later.
In the 2018 giant slalom, she earned her second Olympic gold medal. She is one of just five Americans to win the full World Cup.
She’s also the first and only racer to win each of the six FIS Alpine Ski World Cup categories. She is the youngest man or woman to win 50 World Cup races, at the age of 23 years and 9 months.

Shiffrin has won 60 World Cup races, the most of any female alpine skier, and 40 World Cup slalom races, the most of any female alpine skier. She is the first female racer to win 15 races in the same calendar year.She won the last slalom of the 2018 season in Semmering, tying Marcel Hirscher for the men’s record.
Mikaela became the first athlete to win 17 World Cups in a single season in 2019. She broke Vreni Schneider’s 30-year record of 14 wins. She also became the first Alpine skier to win a world championship four times in a row after winning gold in Slalom at the 2019 World Championships.
