Jelena Dokic started her journey as a Tennis Player as a junior. Moreover, she has an amazing junior career.

She started representing Yugoslavia in the Australian Open. After her first-round defeat to Lindsay Davenport, her father, Damir, claimed abnormalities in the draw. But, Damir was kicked out of the event for being violent.

Her family relocated to the United States after the Australian Open in 2001. Later that year, she reached five finals, winning two of them.

Dokic reached the final of the Open Gaz de France in 2002 but was obliged to give Venus Williams a walkover.
